Reviews about Old Navy

March 03, 2019, by Christine Fox
I went to Old Navy (Cedar Knolls, NJ) to make a return & buy some jeans. I had a reciept for 2 items & no receipt for the 3rd. The very polite cashier was having issues making the return so she called the manager. The woman next to her made a comment I could not fully make out but sounded like she was implying the manager difficult. I thought, wow weird. The manager came over & was working with me and the cashier then left us to help another customer. Meanwhile, I am still waiting and getting zero service. I asked the cashier if she can process one of the other returns while we waited. She did. While I waited I listened to the manager tell the other customer she could not hold her stuff amongst other things. I believe the customer left disappointed and the store probably lost a sale. The manger now comes back over and I am now annoyed at the lack of customer service and at Old Navy’s return policy. I am told because the return is over 45 days that I need to get a merch credit by mail within 10 days. Apparently they do not issue store credits or refunds even though I have a receipt for the item. I am then told the item I don’t have a receipt for will be a merch credit for $1+ Even though it is selling online on clearance for $14+. So annoyed again, I say fine I’ll keep the item just process the credit for the other one and I will not be making another purchase. (2nd sale lost) I also mention I am disappointed that I was left waiting while the manager helped another customer who came in after me. At this point the woman Dana (who complained about the manager earlier) was now ringing up another customer next to me and starts talking under her breath saying Jesus Christ some people...(can’t make out the rest). Now up until this point I am just calmly irritated and disappointed with Old Navy’s antiquated system. Now I am livid and tell the woman that she is rude and unprofessional. She starts screaming at me about how I am an annoying customer for complaining and she does not need this s***. I tell her that I was not even dealing with her and she has nothing to do with this. She basically tells me to shut the F up amongst other incoherent nonsense. Yes that is right-she dropped the f bomb, used the S word and insulted me to another customer all In front of my 6 year old niece. I tell her I will not be talked to that way. My neice now wants to know what the F word is and why this lady is being rude. While we explain to my niece that yes she is being rude and that is not a word we use the manager has asked the rude cashier DANA several times to be quiet and walk away. Meanwhile other customer appalled by this scene has canceled her sale. 3rd sale lost in 15 minutes due to lousy customer service. The manager has calmly asked Dana to be quiet and mind her business several times. Dana apparently cannot control herself and continues arguing with me. The manager tells her to shut up and finally walks her away. As she does this Dana (if that’s her name-she proudly said her name when I asked for it saying she does not care if I call a manager- guess she does not care about her job) says “can you believe this B****”. Yep now my neice has heard another curse word. I stop talking at this point because you can’t reason with crazy. The manager comes back over trying to calm me down and I explain that I have never been treated so bad and to just finish my return and give me the district managers name. I am told it is private information and can call 800-old-navy. I called and am told a district manager will call me back In 2-5 business days. Long story short- I never thought I would want to see anyone lose their job but I will never shop at Old Navy again if cursing at customers is deemed acceptable. If Dana is not fired for cursing, yelllng at and berating me (a customer) in front of a small child then I will have to assume Old Navy finds this to be acceptable behavior. It is bad enough Old Navy’s policy is not on par with its competitors but for the employees to be so rude is unbelievable.
